What is the VCDC?
The Vice City Dueling Championship is an idea that was first devised by [VU]aXXo in 2009. Since then, we have had three successful tournaments with 40 competitors each and it is time for the fourth.

The tournament will consist of three stages: a group stage, a Swiss-style competition with the top two players from each group, and single-elimination quarterfinals/semifinals/finals. After the applications have been closed, groups will be decided by matching players' timezones as closely as possible, so as to make organising matches easy.

Details about how each stage will work will be released in the relevant forum board. This will be an ongoing event, it will not be on a particular day. Matches can be fought at any time, on any VCDC server, as long as an admin is present.

More information is available here.

Who can participate? How do I sign up?
Anyone* can participate! Registration is essentially uncapped as the player limit will be raised as long as the tournament doesn't end up being too complex to administrate.

Register to fight here.

* Known hackers will be rejected.

What prizes are there?
The winner gets the satisfaction of being the best player in the tournament!

A prize pool on Littlewhitey's has been set up as well; players may donate to VCDC_PrizePool in return for acknowledgement on the forum. More information about the prize pool is available in this thread.

2014 / VC:MP Public Beta 4/Server Beta
« on: July 14, 2014, 06:46:49 »

After many successful rounds of private and public beta testing, the VC:MP Development Team is proud to announce the release of the 0.4 Public Beta Server.

This is not representative of a final product; however, by releasing the server to the public, we can collect a significant amount of information regarding bugs and issues that may exist in the server or client. Allowing the community to do whatever they please with the server would be much more productive than simply producing public beta scripts and testing them, as we cannot account for every possible scenario a scripter may want to attempt in 0.4.

Moreover, by releasing the server for scripters to test and develop on, the transition from R2 to 0.4 will be seamless and much smoother, as server owners will more likely be prepared to adopt a completely new version of VC:MP.

This public server release also brings a client update with the following changes:
Client — 12 July 2014
  • Fixed several potential crashes caused by misuse of freed memory
  • Miscellaneous safety checks to avoid client crashes
  • Minor improvements to performance through small code modifications
  • Updated compiler and compiler settings to improve performance

Is this the same bug as this one that was reported earlier?

If not, please make a new bug report.

2014 / VC:MP 0.4 Public Beta #3 - January 26th
« on: July 04, 2013, 14:00:13 »

There will be a public beta test of VC:MP 0.4 on Jan. 26th.
Please read the entire thread first.

Testing Information
A third public beta of VC:MP 0.4 will be held on January 26th beginning at 12:00 GMT. This test will last at least 24 hours and will continue until the beta testing team believes that enough information for bugfixes has been collected. Beta testers and developers may ask you to do certain actions in order to find bugs or other issues in the server, and in those cases, you should do as they say. Otherwise, you should play as your normally would on any other server.

The gamemode will be a classic Team Deathmatch server. There will be multiple classes to select from, including a free-for-all team. Members of the same team (excluding the FFA team) cannot attack each other. There is no objective. Other commands have been added to accommodate stunting.
